52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks

Since 2013, Amy Johnson Crow has hosted the 52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks challenge, the goal of which is to write about a different ancestor each week of the year. At the end of this past year, I effectively started doing this with my ancestors on WikiTree, so I figured with the new year, I would start to blog these entries. Below are some of the general style guidelines I will follow.

The sketches will largely follow the structure of The New England Historical and Genealogical Register which has become the standard for many genealogical journals. Citations will generally follow the format in Evidence Explained by Elizabeth Shown Mills. My personal preference is to always cite the original manuscript first followed by the source of the images. When possible, I will utilize citations referencing free resources like FamilySearch.org as opposed to subscription based sites like Ancestry.com. For FamilySearch records, I will always cite the Image Group Number (DGS) instead of the collection title for the sake of consistency.
